ZIPPOS OLD GOLD
It is with profound sadness and an unbelievable sense of loss that we announce the passing of Zippos Old Gold on Saturday July 7, 2007. Zippos Old Gold came into our lives in November of 1988 at the age of four. He had six foals on the ground at the time. At the time of his death he has 1,078 registered foals with better than two out of three making performers. To date with 1,142 registered he is the sire of multiple World and Congress Champions as well as many Reserve World Champions in AQHA, APHA, ABHA, IBHA, PHBA and ApHC. He has been on the Leading Sires List for close to sixteen of the nineteen years he has been with us. His AQHA foals have earned over 35,000 AQHA points, 194 Superior Awards and over 450 ROM’S earning well over one million dollars.
He was a very prepotent sire truly marking his foals, and it is quite remarkable how much of Zippos Old Gold in his grand get in their looks structure and attitude. It is of comfort for us to know that a part of him lives on in his foals, and his grand get. His foals have made their mark all across the world and “Old Gold” touched the lives of so many people.
He is the defining tool of who I am. The emptiness in the coming days…weeks…months and years will never be filled. He was to me the “Once In A Lifetime Horse”. He was part of our family; he took such good care of us all. Because of him we have a great business, made many wonderful friends along the way; he paid the bills, built our ranch, and put our kids thru school. He and I were connected in a way that is impossible to describe and unless you are one of the fortunate ones to have experienced this incredible type of relationship quite hard to understand. He will be missed beyond belief.
Our heartfelt appreciation is extended to our many friends and customers who believed in Zippos Old Gold, you helped make our dream a reality.
